Instruction Book for 2.6 and 3.0 litre Lagondas

2.6 LITRE

The 2.6 Litre Lagonda was produced from 1947 to 1954 with chassis numbers running from LAG/48/1 to LAG/50/543.

The six cylinders engine had twin over-head camshafts with a 60 degree valve angel and twin SU carburettors producing 105 bhp.

The gearbox was David Brown's own 4 speed S430 syncromesh version with column change. Approximately 547 cars were produced with a Mark 2 version introduced in 1952.

3.0 LITRE

The 3.0 Litre Lagonda was produced from 1953 to 1958 with chassis numbers running from LB/290/24 to 81, LB/290/90 to 91, LB/290/1/82 to 89 and LB/290/1/92 to 267.

The 2.6 litre engine was enlarged to 3.0 litre by staggering the cylinder bores, but retained the same crankshaft producing 140 bhp.

Tickford at Newport Pagnell designed and produced the body, initially available in 2 door and drophead coupe versions with a 4-door added in 1954.

The gear change was moved to the floor with the introduction of the mark 2 model in October 1955. A total of 244 cars were made.

RAPIDE

The Lagonda Rapide was introduced in 1961 after 4 years of no Lagonda production, based on the DB4 Coupe. The 3.6 litre engine was bored out to 4.0 litre producing 236 bhp.

The chassis numbers ran from LR/101/R to LR/155/R and production ceased in 1964, expensive for the time the Rapide was disrupting the production of the DB4 and could not be made profitably.

Only 55 cars were made.
